Back 2 School Organization Tips

Anyone else believe how fast this summer has flown by? School season is upon us again which brings up all sorts of fun (new school supplies, yay!) and scary (new school? new university?) feelings. 

One thing that does not have to scare you is how to get organized before the new school year. After all, this is the perfect chance to start fresh!

If you are a parent: 

·       Think about your child’s homework habits. Do they need quiet or work better with people? Table or lap desk? Create a homework station tailored for each child. This will ensure that they have a dedicated homework space for their own. Stock it with everything they might need (paper, pencils, etc) and make sure there is a bookshelf or storage cube for these items when they are not needed. 

·       If you have a younger child, get a bookcase or our multi-colored storage cubes now and help them decorate it as a final summer project. They can decorate it, sticker it, draw on it, and best of all, you can drill in them that their work goes in their colored cube!  By personalizing the shelf they are making it their own and will be more likely to use it! 

·       Have more than one child using a homework station? Get them to choose their own colored storage cube so they know exactly which homework cubby is theirs! 

·       Consider getting a bulletin board that can be used to leave messages, pin A+ papers, or calendars with future family events. 

·       Backpack Drop Zone: The hardest thing to get a handle on (besides endless homework papers) is the backpacks, sports bags, cheer leading bags etc, that seem to spring up everywhere. Who knew one child could need so many different bags? Make one central location for all bags/backpacks so there is no thought needed as those kiddos race in the door. To make this zone less cluttered (and hazard free) get the bags off the ground and into storage shelving units.

Whether you are a seasoned back-to-schooler or just starting out, the key is communication to all involved. Collaborate and communicate to create an organization routine now, which will seem easy by the time the school bell jingles away!

The Wall Decal Shop is one of the many wall decal shops that I love mainly because prices are cheaper on a lot of their decals. My husband got to pick this time which decal he wanted and he chose of course the 'Pirate Symbol' and we placed it's placed on the back of a vehicle. It's very awesome looking I have to say. He loves the color read. The decal was a bit thicker than other decals we've used, but non the less it was a bit difficult to get the decal off of the sticker, but once we did it was easier to apply. It just wanted to stick to the paper for some reason and we had to work to get it off. Maybe it's where it's been so hot out, but The Wall Decal Shop not only carries just these types of designs nor is all of them for your vehicles. You can place these essentially anywhere - your living room, bathroom, and bedroom. They also provide you with a puddy board to help flatten out the decal and to apply it easily. They have great customer service and are very friendly.

I recently got the chance to review a few of the Dali's Wall Decal's. I was a little too excited when trying to apply so I mucked one up. I recommend when doing these to enlist in some help from someone to help you apply these so you won't destroy yours like I did. However, I did get a few of the others up fine. If you want these to be perfect you will have to spend a little time mapping out where you want them to go and take your time. Dali Decals have some of the most beautiful Decals I've ever seen. I initially thought these were peel and stick which they kind of are, but if you've ever seen how they apply Decals on a car it's kind of like that. You will receive a practice Decal with your purchase and a Squeegee which is like a putty board. They are more smooth and last longer than the ones you can pick up at the stores. The ones at the stores usually have an outline of clear plastic around them and you can tell on your paint that they are just stickers and with time they peel up and fray at the ends. With these they actually look hand painted, but if you have to remove them they are also easily removed so no worries if you want a change!

Mini Love Birds - Set of Two - Laptop & Notebook Decals

I saw these and thought they were so cute! My husband helped me apply this to my laptop and if you can see I have grooves into my laptop and it went over them perfectly. I picked out (Matte Hot Pink) if you were wondering what color I chose. Their Decals you can get them in many colors and you can also have a Decal personalized for you which I thought was awesome!

Underwater Sea Turtles - Set of Six - Wall Decals

I chose the Underwater Sea Turtles in the color 'Kelly Green', but you can like I said chose any color you want and I also edited a picture to show you how it would look brown with a pink wall. I put these on my nieces DVD cabinet.

Some helpful tools you can use while applying these, but it's optional is: Scissors, Painter's Tape, Level, Tape Measure, and a Pencil.  

My overall opinion of this company and designs is that I would rather purchase from their website than go pick up any other clear plastic ones from the store is because these are so much better made & the costumer service is great & the shipping is fast! I just can't get over how they look hand painted. I'm going to order some to do my living room once I get done remodeling it.
