Zevia Review & GIVEAWAY (closed)

ZEVIA: All Natural Soda

A little about Zevia and why the decided to make it.. taken from their website.

The Z team is made up of soda-loving people. We grew up drinking classic soda flavors, and turned away from them for health reasons. So making naturally delicious, healthy versions of the familiar favorites we grew up with, without sugar, is our top priority. We make soda the way it should always have been.

For me, the Zevia story started with my conversion from a “sugar junkie” to a stevia fan. About 11 years ago, I quit sugar cold turkey in an effort to upgrade my health. I thought I was a health-conscious person – I exercised frequently, consumed meat in moderation, and consumed natural and organic products whenever possible. But when I really looked at my diet, I found I was consuming up to 250 grams of sugar per day, between protein shakes, energy bars, juice-based spritzers and other foods and beverages. That’s about 1,000 calories a day, just from sugars.

My wife and I decided we needed to make a change. We began using stevia as a sweetener, and to this day, my family uses only stevia in our household. Stevia has given us an alternative without negative side effects, and has kept us from feeling deprived in our sugar-free lifestyle. It’s had a tremendous impact on how we feel every day, and I’m confident it’s benefiting our long-term health.

People with diabetes, people seeking to lose weight or control their weight, or people who just want to live a healthier life really light up when they discover our product as Zevia has no calories, no sugar, and has no effect on blood sugar!

What is stevia?

It's always a truism that the best things in nature have been used by somebody around the world for centuries, even millennia; they just needed re-discovering by the wider world. This couldn't be more true of stevia. Stevia is a small shrub that is a member of Asteraceae family of plants, more commonly referred to as the "sunflower family." The scientific name for stevia is stevia rebaudiana.

The native peoples of Paraguay have known about the stevia plant for centuries and have employed it to sweeten their beverages for many generations. They have valued its incredible sweetness for a long time. The rest of the world only really "discovered" stevia at the end of the 19th century, through the efforts of the Swiss Dr. Moises Santiago Bertoni, from the University of Ascuncion, who in 1899 received a sample of stevia leaf from a colleague. He named it Stevia Rebaudiana, after the Paraguay an chemist Rebaudi, who later became the first person to isolate the naturally sweet compounds contained therein.

I got the chance to try out Zevia. I've never tried it before although I recently switched to using Stevia as a sweetener for my foods so I thought why not?

Zevia says:

Contains no sugar and no calories. It's made with 100% natural ingredients, including stevia, a botanical sweetener used around the world for hundreds of years.

It's what soda should always have been.

. Sodium
. Gluten
. Caffeine (depending on which you drink)
. Net Carbs

This product is also Vegan!

I have to say it tastes different then regular soda almost more of a carbonated taste, but I love my drinks really carbonated! I think this is a great alternative to people who love soda, but can't drink it because of their sugar levels. I have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and I've lost 60lbs. and I'm always looking for healthier alternatives to help me keep losing weight and not adding to my waist line! I love the orange flavor it tastes so sweet. I'm glad that Zevia has some of their drinks that are caffeine free so that I don't have to worry about it affecting my heart as I have heart problems as well.
