How to Avoid Catching the Common Cold:
The Common Cold is caused by hundreds of viruses, but the most common type is the Rhinovirus. It accounts for nearly 35% of all colds.
There are a variety of ways to catch a Rhinovirus, for example, sharing a beverage, kissing or sneezing. (Virus-carrying droplets can travel up to 12 feet through the air when someone sneezes!)
However, studies have shown that hands are most commonly involved in transmission.
When someone with a cold touches their eyes-nose-or-mouth, the Rhinovirus can get onto their hands. It can survive on their hands- or things their hands touch, such as doorknobs, telephones, remote controls, toys, etc. - for 3 hours. If it gets on your hands, you need to wash it off before you touch your eyes-nose-or-mouth, or you may be in for an uncomfortable week.
Wash your hands for at least 15 seconds at a time & especially:
| After coughing or sneezing or wiping your nose
| After bathroom use - Before and after food preparation
| After handling refuse or waste products - Before eating
| After touching pets or animals - When your hands are dirty
| Frequently after visiting, or living with, someone who's sick

My Impression: First of all how cute is this? I mean children today will be clean for five minutes tops! It's great to teach them why it's important to keep their hands clean, but they always look at you 'roll their eyes' and say 'whatever MOM!', but if they had something like this GIANTmicrobes then I think they would be less inclined to blow you off about the importance of their health. This is a cute and clever way of going about teaching them about their health and what certain viruses look like and how they transfer.
It's very cute and bold so that children - EVEN adults can't resist, but to use it. Sometimes, we all can be forgetful, but how can you forget to wash your hands when this little guy is on your counter reminding you!?
